Find Your Wave to a Happy Pup ????

At Surf Hounds, we’re more than just a dog training service — we’re your partner in creating a happier, more connected life with your dog. Training is about building trust, improving communication, and strengthening the bond between you and your furry companion.

We understand that every dog is unique, and so is every family. That’s why we offer a variety of training options tailored to fit your lifestyle and your dog’s individual needs. Whether you’re raising a playful puppy, working through reactivity, or just looking to brush up on life skills, our programs are designed to set both ends of the leash up for success.

At the heart of our approach is empathy and understanding. We take the time to get to know you and your dog, so we can create a training plan that works for you — not the other way around. Our methods are force-free and science-based, ensuring your dog’s well-being is always our top priority.

No matter where you are on your training journey, we’re here to guide you every step of the way. With patience, a bit of humor, and a whole lot of compassion, we’ll help you navigate the waves of training and build a relationship with your dog that you’ll cherish furever.

Private Training

We will DIG into the nitty gritty of understanding your pup so we can address issues at the forefront. This type of training is perfect for dogs with specific needs or for guardians who want customized one-on-one support. Together, we’ll create a plan that fits your goals and helps your dog thrive.

In order to provide this specialized approach, all of our programs start with an in-depth virtual consultation over ZOOM. This allows for space so we can hear how you’re feeling with your dog, your goals, where you’re struggling or what you’d like to achieve, learn about your environment and lifestyle, and understand their overall behavior and history so we can take a holistic approach when it comes to building our plan.

Surprise! Our support and guidance isn’t just designed with your dog in mind, we think about you, too!

Small Group Classes

Setting Your Pup Up For Success

At Surf Hounds, we know that building a well-rounded, happy dog starts with understanding the importance of socialization. Many behavioral challenges in dogs can be traced back to missteps during their critical early months and we want to help guide you through raising your pup.  We keep our classes small at 3 or 4 dogs so you and your dog will still receive individualized attention. We offer support between weekly classes so you’ll always feel supported and ready to take on the day with your pup! We know how generalized group classes can feel and our goal is to give all of our students a semi-private feel so no one gets left behind.

Don’t live nearby or prefer to train from the comfort of home? No worries! We offer virtual class options so you can join us no matter which beach you’re surfing! ????

After each walk, you’ll receive a detailed recap of what we worked on and how your dog is progressing. To keep you in the loop, we’ll schedule regular check-ins or invite you to join us on a walk, so you can see the progress firsthand and learn what to practice at home.

See what our students have to say!

I didn’t know I could do it but I did it…

My dog was anxious and high-energy from the beginning and I kept my dog too busy, overstimulated, excessively socialized and then he was attacked and he was just surviving in constant alert mode.

I spent months in my own sorrows feeling sad and upset my dog was reactive and overly anxious before I realized I needed help. I had to correct all my uneducated choices and spent many months working alongside @allpawsondeckbc.

Fast forward to now, Bruno and I both learned an immense amount of information together, I have the proper skills to train him, read him, respect his limits and make sure he feels less anxious and safe. To take time, adjust and read the situation but most of all, we’re more bonded, he trusts me and I understand him and the things he needs from me. I get him.

Moral of the story is sometimes raising a dog isn’t always rainbows and butterflies, and sometimes you have to change up your approach to get better results. It’s not just about training them to go to the bathroom, feed them and smother them…it’s about making sure they have respectful boundaries and know the limits for themselves, the people and the environments they are apart of and sometimes you have to let go of your own biases. POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR APPROACH WORKS.

Bruno used to be super nervous around other big anxious dogs and at times he still may be but he CAN and WILL be in their presence with my confidence, support, understanding and education. THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts Michelle, we are forever grateful. ♥️????
